Psychological Therapies in Margaret River
Welcome to Blake Johns Counselling, where I provide trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy in Margaret River. I welcome anyone seeking therapy, especially those who also feel connected with the West Australian Indian Ocean.
I specialise in shame-based presentations relating to anxiety, depression, complex trauma, and PTSD. Other areas I work with include general life stress, other self-worth concerns, anger, and addiction.
My intention is to create a space where you feel like we’re equals in a therapy team, so you can show up authentically. Together we can create therapy that feels safe, meaningful, and expansive.

About Blake
“Psychotherapy is supporting the flower to grow through depth-oriented cultivation, whilst social work attends to growth through nutrients of the roots, soil and ecosystem.”
I’m a dedicated Psychotherapist with over a decade of experience in mental health. I hold dual Master’s degrees in therapy and social work, and have extensive postgraduate trauma training in EMDR and Parts Work.
Like psychologists, psychotherapists who are also Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSW) provide psychological therapies under Medicare, Health, and Department of Veterans Affairs.
Areas I’ve worked in as a therapist include acute mental health, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centres, veterans counselling services, high security correctional facilities, and men’s behaviour change programs. Prior to this, I worked as social worker in child protection and disabilities.

I acknowledge the Wadandi People (Saltwater People) of the Noongar Nation as the traditional custodians of the land where I live, work, surf, and play. I pay my respect to their Elders past and present and their ongoing connection and care for Wadandi Boodja. I acknowledge that First Nations sovereignty has never been ceded. It always was and always will be, Aboriginal Land.
