NDIS Capacity Building

NDIS Capacity Building in Margaret River

Having dual professions in psychotherapy and social work, I bring a unique and holistic perspective to psychosocial capacity building. These backgrounds allow me to support you in a comprehensive and holistic manner by integrating psychological, social, and environmental aspects of your circumstances.

Capacity Building: Psychotherapy and Social Work

If we think of gardening as a metaphor, psychotherapy has a bit more of a focus on the plant, whereas social work has a bit more of a focus on the garden bed, but they both overlap considerably. This is particularly important if we’re to distinguish between impairment being about every day functioning, and disability about being disadvantaged, discriminated against, and excluded. Both impairment and disability impact on overall capacity.

NDIS and the Importance of Relationship

Whilst training in capacity building is important, even more important is how therapists build a relationship with their clients. If you and I were to work together, I would first ask about how you and I could ‘team up’ for the problems you’re facing. I do this by listening, asking questions, and checking my understanding with you. I see you as the expert in your own life, and it’s my job to consult with you about how I can help.

Experienced with NDIS Supports

  • Therapy under Improved Daily Living

  • Understanding of support coordination, NDIS plans, budgeting and report writing

  • Registered Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner (currently non-practicing)

Having worked in disability for sometime, I’m mindful to be flexible for NDIS clients, including providing home visits or ‘board meetings’ (meeting on a skateboard or surfboard). Further, NDIS fees are actually a little below my hourly rate, but I will never charge NDIS participants a gap.

Please note I am not registered with NDIS so you will need to be self-managed or plan managed to use your NDIS funding.
